Ingredients
- Spam – I prefer low sodium so that I can control the sodium level
- Egg – well beaten
- Garlic, green onion, frozen peas and corn kernels
- Leftover rice – any cooked white rice (medium grain, short grain or Jasmin rice)
- Sauce – soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil and pepper
How to make Spam Fried Rice
Make fried rice sauce

Mix all the fried rice sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
Stir-fry Egg and Spam

For egg: Stir-fry beaten eggs in hot oil until they are half cooked (still slightly wet). Transfer the eggs to a plate and set aside. This is a same start when I make my egg fried rice.

For Spam: Cook Spam pieces until they are crisp and slightly browned.

Then, add garlic, green onion and stir fry for 1 minute.
Add Veggies and rice

Incorporate the corn and peas, and heat through. Mix in the rice and toss everything until the rice grains are separated and well combined.

Pour the sauce over and toss with fried rice.

Return the reserved scramble egg and continue to toss to heat through. Serve hot. Kimchi will make a nice compliment to pair as a side.

Helpful Tips for the Best Result
- Use day-old leftover rice for the best result. Day-old and refrigerated cold rice has lost some of its moisture content, making it more suitable for making fried rice. You will get a chewier and more pleasant rice texture. Nobody wants their fried rice to be soggy.
- You can dice up the Spam to any size you desire and pan fry the pieces until crisp. Adjust the frying time according to the size of your Spam chunks.
- Mix the sauce ingredients first so you’ll be ready to pour it over the fried rice, coating it evenly.
- Use any vegetables you have on hand that are suitable for making fried rice. I choose green peas, corn kernels, and green onion. You can also use onion, carrot, sweet pepper, zucchini, etc.
- If you like to add some spicy heat to your Spam fried rice, drizzle some sriracha sauce over the finished product when you serve.
- You can also use this Spam fried rice recipe Hawaiian style with the addition of pineapple chunks.

Super yummy! I added extra eggs so I can eat it for breakfast.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Adding extra eggs for breakfast sounds like a perfect idea. Spam fried rice and eggs are always a great combination!
I used a microwave pack of Uncle Ben’s chicken flavored rice to save time. I bought Spam in single serve foil packets which is perfect for seniors like us; one was just the right amount. I didn’t have green onions so I used 1/4 of a white onion finely chopped and sautéed with a little chopped garlic. I served it with sliced pineapple rings on the side. Super fast and easy to prepare and very tasty!
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas. Glad that you enjoyed it.
Easy and delicious! I will make this again. I only substituted the vegetables for a frozen mixed vegetable bag with peas, carrots, corn, and green beans
So glad you enjoyed it! Frozen mixed veggies work perfectly in this recipe, and I’m happy to hear it turned out well. Thanks for trying it!
Is the rice measurement of four cups before or after you cook it?
