Salmon Korean Radish Taco

May 27, 2020 by Holly Ford 2 Comments

Salmon Korean Radish Taco

Salmon taco meets Korean radish salad. A perfect Korean-Mexican fusion taco is born. I love blackened salmon so I combined with Korean radish salad in a taco form. The crunchiness of Korean radish adds delightful texture to the taco. The gentle heat form the radish salad adds a kick to the taco and works very well  and the hint of sweetness works well with the blackened salmon. Topped with fresh Pico de Gallo, this salmon Korean radish taco is another win for Korean-Mexican fusion style ...

Kimchi Cheese Potato Fritters

Many of Korean food lovers adore kimchi pancakes. I have posted one of the best Kimchi pancakes recipe before. Yes, it is delicious and satisfying. But here I present another version of kimchi pancakes recipe that is even better. I will call it cheesy kimchi potato pancakes. As you can imagine, the combination of sour cabbage kimchi, shredded potatoes, and soft cheese are combined in a simple batter and panfried in hot oil. Oyster Soft Tofu Rice Bowl

Oyster Soft Tofu Rice Bowl

Soft tofu has been loved by many Asian people regardless of their origin. I, as a Korean, like to use soft tofu in soups and stews with beef, pork and seafood as you can see in spicy soft tofu stew with beef and seafood recipe in my previous post. Here is another recipe that you can use soft tofu into a quick and easy rice bowl dish; oyster soft tofu rice bowl. I got the inspiration from the Mapo Tofu, the Chinese spicy tofu and pork dish flavored with dubanjang sauce (aka Chinese chili bean ...

Gathering with loved ones and sharing food that has been made with love brings a precious memory in our hearts. Preparing the food for a holiday gathering shouldn't make you slave away in the kitchen, though. In fact, it should be easy and stress-free so that you can spend more time enjoying the ...

Korean Salmon Taco

I think I just created one of the most amazingly tasting fish tacos with salmon. Yup, I really meant that. I made Korean salmon tacos with Sea Cuisine's Asian grill rubbed salmon and let me tell you: it was the bomb! I was very thrilled when I got an opportunity to create a recipe for Sea Cuisine's seafood products. I knew that I wanted to add a Korean touch to them. Sea Cuisine has many varieties of seafood products. I chose their Asian grill rubbed salmon because it has just the perfect flavor ...

Cabbage Ramen Salad

July 10, 2016 by Holly Ford 4 Comments

Cabbage Ramen Salad

Cabbage ramen salad is one of the oriental style salad recipes I have often ate when I first came to U.S 25 years ago. Every potluck party I went, someone always brought this salad. Some were really good, and the other were very oily or too sweet. I was surprised to see how cheap the ramen was first, and then even more surprised how horrible it tasted after I tasted when it was made into noodle soup. No wonder people used only the noodle part of ramen package. Toasting the ramen noodle ...

Korean Spicy Seafood Noodles, Jjamppong

There are two majorly popular Chinese inspired Korean foods. One is the Jjajangmyun and the other is this Korean spicy seafood noodle soup, Jjamppong (짬뽕). If you go to any Korean-Chinese restaurants, you will find these two items on the menu for sure. When the weather outside is chilly and dreary, Korean people often order this Korean spicy seafood noodle soup, Jjamppong, from their local restaurant as a delivery. Yes, Korea is a heaven an earth when it comes to the food delivery. Anything ...

Hambak Steak

October 19, 2015 by Holly Ford 6 Comments

Hambak Steak, Hambagu

The old fashioned Salisbury steak entered many places around the world including Korea. We call it Hambak steak (함박스테이크). The word "hambak" came from Hamburg, Germany where the hamburger patties are believed to be originated. However, Korean hambak steak was perhaps most influenced by the Japanese version of Salisbury steak, the "Hambagu". Hambak steak was one of my favorite western foods when I was growing up. I remember how excited I was whenever my parents took me and my sisters to the ...

Korean Chicken and Potato Dumplings

May 20, 2015 by Holly Ford 13 Comments

Korean Chicken and Potato Dumpling

There is a dish called Soojebi (수제비) in Korea. It is a humble soup-like dish made with simple flour dumplings. Some soojebi has chicken, some has sea food or kimchi along with potato and zucchini. The dumpling itself is made with plain flour, salt and water. Quite simple and humble. I don't think I had soojebi that often when I was growing up in Korea. Mainly because...,  my father hated it. He hated it because he ate it so often and so much as he was growing up in the ...
